What is the deal with these machines? Two days in and it's already making the crazy screeching noises as the one it replaces. In the past, I thought the screeching was due to scale build up in the auger but that's def not the case here. When I've called GE Support in the past, they recommend opening the machine (which requires unscrewing multiple panels) and cleaning out the insides. After paying $600 for an item that's really just a nice luxury, I have a hard time believing I should need to service it myself. When it works, the nug ice is delightful but c'mon!

HORRIBLE product and even worse customer service. The warranty is a joke. My ice maker stopped working while it was still within the one-year warranty period, and no one seemed to care. Instead of standing behind their product, they closed my case without resolving the issue and were rude and unhelpful throughout the process. I will never buy another GE Profile product.

Worst product ever! Customer support is condescending and just wants you to upgrade after your ONE year warranty expires (which is when the $650 unit decides to not work properly). I took very good care of this unit and followed all care instructions. After a year is up your troubles will begin. I will be replacing this hunk of poor quality plastic parts junk with the goveelife smart nugget pro. Goodbye GE no more products in our house with your label on them. Second unit I™™ve had and both went out in 2 years of having them. You won™™t be getting any more of my money.

I received this ice maker from a dear friend that passed away soon after in a car accident. Within a month of using it it began making an awful screeching and grinding noise. I would unplug it and reset the unit at which time it would make one bucket of ice before the screeching would resume again. This has gotten to the point that there seems to be metal dust in the water bin causing me to no longer use the unit . For the money that was spent I would expect much better quality than this

Makes good ice but reliability of this machine is complete crap. I hear its American made must explain the low quality. The new blue ultra filter later about 5 days before it clogged this happens even though I used filtered water to supply the machine. The machine needs to be designed by a competent engineer that allow to easily open and clean internal reservoir and hoses. If you buy this it will only last about a year with regular cleaning. GE please hire engineers who have finished high school and college that staff you have now is not cutting it

Great ice, until it breaks. We have had three of these and no one stands behind the warranty. They don™™t last long, and the grinding sounds when they start to go will haunt you! Get a cheaper brand. I have spent over $1600 on these and now have a $100 one from Amazon that works just fine.

I love this ice maker. Not sure for those that rated why in the world they are cleaning it out every few days or weeks. It has a UV light and you don't need to clean it out until the cleaning prompt comes on and even then you can go a bit longer if you want. Just use Vinegar to clean/descale and then a bit of Bleach to run through to sanitize. Mine made a loud screech noise and I just took the cover off and few other parts and loosened the Styrofoam packing a bit around the auger system and that did the trick. My opinion is that with the Styrofoam so tight it keeps the auger system too cold for the metal parts and so they have a hard time moving or have a thin ice build up that rubs and makes the noise. I haven't had any issues with it other than that. Wonderful ice, maintenance schedule is easy. Only clean, descale, and sanitize every 6 weeks or so depending how much use it gets and it is just fine. I love this ice maker!

My ice maker started out great. We loved it and so did our family and friends . I say ™loved™ because after just 2 months it no longer works. It just displays ™Add Water™ . We have followed the only suggestion I found on line suggesting ther might be air in the lines. I have drained the machine at least five times now and also ™unplugged it for three to four hours™ as suggested to allow the machine to ™reset™. None of these attempts worked. I am really disappointed since I was looking forward to enjoying this type of ice for much longer than two months. And of course, It is now past the return date. Is my machine a lemon? I have always been a faithful GE products fan. Not anymore.

Love this! It is easy to clean and very durable. It is larger than I thought, but it has a sleek design that looks good on the counter. It™™s relatively quiet and produces great quality ice (I use spring water in gallon jugs) It took some time to make ice in bulk at first, but as it ran more consistently it became a lot quicker. Definitely suggest using the side tank as well for a larger quantity of ice and less refilling. Keeping it running overnight was the the best thing I found when getting started with this.

Absolutely in love with my GE nugget ice maker! The sleek design and opal (white) color make it look so beautiful on my countertop. The setup was very simple and the ice maker is very easy and self explanatory to operate. It makes ice relatively fast and the nugget ice cubes are small and chewy, they™™re absolutely perfect to use with all the drinks we make! The water tank is on the side and is relatively big, so the water doesn™™t need constant refilling. To say I am obsessed is an understatement, we will be utilizing this ice makers daily, forget the ice from the fridge!

My family and I absolutely love this thing. I don™™t like chewing on ice but my husband and kids do, and they love the ice this makes. It™™s very quick, only a couple hours to fill completely. My husband has been sick and he™™s been filling up his cup with ice over and over again and we still haven™™t run out. It™™s also convenient to fill the water tank, I really like that feature. My only complaints are that it™™s pretty high maintenance. It needs to be sanitized at least once a week and descaled every few weeks. It™™s not hard to do but it takes a little time which I don™™t have much to spare. But on the other hand, I do like that it™™s clean so the ice always tastes good. Makes me question the ice coming out of the refrigerator since I don™™t even know HOW I would clean those lines. So it™™s a blessing and a curse. The other complaint is that *to me* it™™s kind of loud while it™™s making ice. I™™m really sensitive to noise though and easily overstimulated. It doesn™™t bother my family at all. You can always have it only make ice at night or while you™™re at work and avoid that problem altogether. All in all, I™™m suuuuuuuuper happy with this little appliance.

The first thing you will notice is that the design of the Opal 2.0 is very elegant. ï¿¼ And the item comes very well packaged mine was actually missing one of the packing straps, but nothing was damaged inside of the box because of all of the extra foam packaging that was used by GE when packaging this item. After you take about 15 minutes to set up and cleaning the unit for the first time to get it ready for first use, you™™ll be surprised with the amazing quality of ice that it produces and it only takes about another 20 minutes to do so I was stunned the texture of the icefeels when you are chewing on it I would 100% recommend this item if you were looking for an icemaker
