I had an old GE washer for many years, but it started to wear out. I decided to purchase this updated version of my old washer. It has many features which my old washer did not, no agitator to tangle clothes, convenient ways to load detergent, fabric softener and bleach, and a larger tub capacity. After the first few uses, I found that this new unit was faster, quieter, and did an excellent job of cleaning. The controls are also very easy to understand. I expect it to last a very long time, and I would recommend this model to anyone who is looking to replace their old washer.

GE Top-loader lid failure / plastic frame broken

I purchased this top-loading model 2 years ago from Costco. Normal use - with me and my wife the only users. After one year, I noticed a few small cracks on the plastic frame that houses the glass lid. Over the past few months the frame has fractured so much so that it makes it difficult to use the machine. Pieces of plastic continue to fall off with every use. GE has not responded back to me, and I am extremely bummed about it - this machine was not cheap and I thought I was buying a quality product from Costco... Model PTW600BSR1WS

Wrinkled mess

This washer & dryer came with the house we recently purchased. They look like new. The dryer works great but the washer leaves all our clothes a complete wrinkled mess. Especially my dryfit golf shirts and shorts. They look like a piece of paper wadded in a ball. I have tried all the recommended tips using delicate setting, cooler water, slow spin and no improvement. I have a much cheaper GE washer top load with an agitator at an apartment that i own and it works great with almost no wrinkles at all.

We have had this washer for over a year and have been very happy with the product. This is a very large capacity washer that cleans clothes well. We appreciate the various cycles and have used most of them. It is easy to dispense detergent and you can view your laundry through the smoked glass on the lid. We highly recommend this product.

Lid has broken twice

The washer does a good job washing, unfortunately it is extremely poorly made and I believe has a design flaw with the lid. The inside plastic on the lid has now broken twice after a year both times and I am struggling to get it fixed because the one year warranty has expired. The lid is a part that should last forever and it is not right that it has broken twice after twice in the exact same place. GE used to stand for quality and would stand behind their products. Unfortunately that is not the case today.

For a washing machine to use that much technology...just unnecessary things that can break... so 4 stars. That said, easy to use and cleans well which is all I wanted. Very large capacity and spins and drains very well. People rated it loud but it's really not loud enough to complain about.

Machine cleans clothes well, however, it™™s the loudest washer I™™ve ever had! I thought something had to be wrong. Had service rep out after a couple weeks and he installed an older water pump that is a bit quieter. The washer is just louder than previous in general.

Defective machine - should be recalled

We've had this washer just shy of 2 years and the lid completely cracked. Because of this, the door can no longer lock, rendering the entire machine useless. After doing some research, turns out this is a common and known problem with this specific machine. Not sure why GE hasn't recalled it. A replacement lid is nearly $300. Called GE customer service and they basically told me tough luck. I will never buy from GE ever again.

Fancy washer! This one has all the bells and whistles, including a dispenser for detergent and fabric softener, and more wash settings than most people will ever use. Clothes come clean, and most of the water is removed during the spin, so drying time is reduced. And the clear lid! Why am I paying for cable when I can watch my clothes? To think my grandmother used a wringer washer, and here we are with a computer attached to the machine. Slap me silly and call me George Jetson!

Capacity is tremendous. Love the timer that tells when it's done. Very quiet. Washes better than most. Stops cycle when out of balance. Not a fan of that. Dispenser is in a good place and works fine. Am a little skeptical of the low water range. Sometimes all the clothes don't get wet.

Cleans fantastic. Pros no middle agitator to tear up your clothes. Bulky loads do tend to clump up and cause the machine to get off balance bad which is a shame I purchased this because I wanted something large capacity to wash comforters and blankets. The reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 is because of the water sensor I have to wash everything on bulky and deep fill to get enough water into the washing machine. I want to pick the water level I don't want a washing machine to pick my water level. Wise up washing machine people.

This washer cleans just fine so there is no problem with that however no matter how carefully I load it it goes off balance and makes a horrible noise. I have to babysit each load and when the spin cycle starts I have to pause the cycle and redistribute everything and try again. This isn'r easy with wet towels and bedding! Due to this I cannot recommend this washer.

Cracked Lid - Known Defect

The lid cracked started cracking not long after we got it. We™™re pretty gentle with it but I thought we™™d done something wrong. Come to find out it happens all the time and we have to pay to replace it ourselves. Found a Facebook page a ton of people with the exact washer with the exact cracks. Don™™t know what to do as I can™™t afford a new one or to fix it. A new washing machine should last longer than 2 years.

I am so aggravated that this has happened because I'm extra careful when handling the lid and I don't have $200 for repairs. I might as well buy another. Don't buy this washer unless you want to spend $200 later to replace the lid for being cracked on the right side. I have seen a lot of complaints on this. I don't know why there is not a recall. Also, the flex dispenser is garbage. The plastic railings holding it in place will also break.

The washer is good. It is packed with cycle options that address the various wash loads. The FLEX Dispense drawer to the worst design I've ever seen. It has to be removed to be cleaned. The directions in the owners manual are a joke. You cannot get the drawer out. Some reviews say IF you get it out, you can't get it back in and working properly.

It may be that this is a large capacity washer, and we are a 2-person household without a lot of laundry. Our loads were very small, so maybe the sensors didn't work right. Clothes came out linty and with some dog hair still on them. The wash basin is so huge I had to use tongs to get the clothes out of it. Entirely unsatisfied. I gave it to a neighbor with a big family. They claim to like it, but maybe they are just being kind.

I am developing a love hate relationship with this washer...I love the capacity, it cleans very well and I can reach the bottom without too much effort...HOWEVER!!!!!!!!!!! it is ALWAYS out of balance...i constantly have to fly down to the basement to pause it and readjust the load before it walks across the room... Bought the washer two and a half years ago it worked fine until a week ago when the lid wouldn't lock. Find out the why is because the right rear plastic corner of the lid had cracked causing the lid not to close all the way. I noticed from other reviews that this is a common problem.

It is nice to have new appliances after a lightning strike, but the washer seems to be a bit noisy. I didn't notice it at the first wash with nothing in it, so I will wait and try it again with less clothes to see if it makes a difference.

HORRIBLE WASHER

This washer was crap from the day I got it. But my son in law said it's new so give it a chance to get the kinks out. Well let me tell you. As the water said fill, which it did some, then it started to drain as it continued to say fill. After all the water drained, and there was none left as all, it started to agitate, as if it washing the clothes. Then from there it said CANCLED. Which meant, that's all it was doing for that wash cycle. It does not have a rinse cycle on it so I had to start from the beginning. I would start it over and watched and listened and tried to get it before it would go to cancel so I could try to pause the washer and distribute the clothes evenly around the drum so when it went to spin, it hopefully did not cancel and it would spin with no problems. So I had to stay by the washer from the time I started it until the time stopped it. Do that for 3 loads and see how long your standing there for. I called for service and they told me that I never filled out the warranty, which I know I did. I scanned the bar code on the receipt and did it that way. I tried it again but I was unable to scan it again and reregister. I was reading on line about this washer which others had the same prob and they were told to try to bar code that is under the lid on the right hand corner. So I did an it worked. It did actually register it. Now I am wondering if they will fix it. I'd rather have a new one!!

I can't believe how much we can put in it. It was no problem getting used to the different detergent dispenser. We were able to wash a weighted blanket with no trouble. It uses so little water and electricity, I'm surprised it can still get things so clean! I can connect to it using their app on my phone. I am VERY happy with it.

I bought the washer 2 years ago, and the lid just crumbled fell apart, and completely came off. To fix it is about the same as a new washer. Defective, will only last you a couple of years! I will never buy another GE appliance. I'm dumping it and starting over, no sense in paying $600 to fix for another 2 years!

No matter how I load this washing machine, no matter what cycle I pick, it™™s constantly off-balance. Also, the soap/fabric softener dispenser holds water. So when your load is all finished, the dispenser still has water in it. Seems like a wonderful place for mold.

This washing machine is exceptional. The tub is large and accommodates quits etc. It offers several cycle choices, including one for jeans which impressed me. It is nice and quiet. Clothes come out very clean. I like that the cycle choice operates with a dial rather than touch. Soil level, temperature setting and even a spin cycle speed are wonderful added features. I have owned many machines in my time and this is by far my best purchase.

Love the washer, however will never buy GE again!!! The lid cracked (extremely common problem apparently). We had the lid replaced at just over a year of purchase and now one year later it™™s cracked again. It will not lock so therefore the washer is useless. Apparently GE has realized the defect and changed the lid design however I™™m expected to pay $262.65 for the lid PLUS labor. At this point it doesn™™t make sense to keep spending $400 every year on a new lid when I can get a brand new washer for practically the same price. Super disappointed in GE and won™™t be purchasing any GE appliances in the future.

Terrible washer. If wasn™™t a hassle to load it and return in the allotted time, we would have done just that. Barely any water in these loads, even when deep fill selected. Have to run loads twice to even smell like they were washed.

I purchased this washing machine about 4 years ago. It is such a terrible washing machine I HIGHLY recommend you do not purchase. I've been suffering with my purchase since it arrived and am only spending my time writing this review because I don't want anyone else to have to regret their decision. I can't wait until the day this breaks down and it forces my husband to purchase another one.......... My main complaint is that despite purchasing a larger capacity machine, it will NOT handle it. It will constantly get off balance. If I wash my king bedding and blanket (which it should more than handle they are thin), it will go off balance during the rinse cycle. Doing a load of towels is just as bad. The way the machine "fixes itself" is by adding water so that the clothes are swooshed around and hopefully untangle and thus can spin around without shaking across the room. Doing this wastes water and adds additional time to the entire cycle - sometimes by 20 minutes. Sometimes it has to do this process - adding water, drain and spin to unbalance the items in the washing machine - multiple times. What I typically have to do when I catch it doing that is pause the machine, rearrange the clothing myself, unpause the machine, and then hold onto the washing machine until it takes a few spins and becomes unbalanced. I've gotten quite good at this but I feel like I shouldn't have to put this much effort into it.....I mine as well go down to the Lake and beat my clothes on some rocks at this point......
